Aboriginal Family Support Program
The Aboriginal Family Support program (AFSP) was created to support Urban Indigenous families that are prenatal and/or have children aged 0-6. Services and programming are delivered in a culturally based approach and targets all stages of development of the child from infancy to the early learning years. The program offers Little Leaders Cultural group, Community Kitchen, Parenting programs, Nutrition Bingos and Cultural Craft classes. The AFS program provides emergency food hampers for registered clients, hampers may include, dry food goods, feminine hygiene products, diapers and wipes. The program provides one to ones when needed as well as transportation to all programming and medical appointments for registered clients.
We provide referrals to other programs within Ne-Chee Friendship Centre and other organizations in the community if further assistance is needed for families. There is a private Facebook group called the "Aboriginal Family Support Program", send us and email if you wish to join.
AFSP staff are adapting the Aboriginal Family Support Program to best suit their program participant's needs during this time, so calendar and services are subject to change.
