Aboriginal Family Support Program

The program was created to support urban Indigenous families with children aged 0-6. Services and programming are delivered in a culturally based approach and targets all stages of development of the child from infancy to the early learning years.

The program offers parent relief, children’s programs, community kitchen, parenting programs, and a children’s Pow wow.

The AFS program is still providing emergency food hampers, feminine Hygiene products, diapers and wipes. They are also providing craft/activity supply bags and school worksheets for family activities at home during social distancing.

The program provides phone call meetings and “check-up” messages to maintain contact with clients. They are also providing referrals to other organizations in the community. There is a private Facebook group, send us an email if you wish to join.

AFSP staff are adapting the Aboriginal Family Support Program to best suit their program participant’s needs during this time, so calendar and services are subject to change.
